Avoid
the shimmery, glittery bronzers that include mica, glitter, or
other shimmery flecks and choose the more natural-looking ones.
Before
applying a bronzer, make sure skin is clean and dry. Next, remove
all jewelry and put on a shower cap. Wear protective gloves to
avoid staining palms and nails. Then, massage a dime-size amount
of bronzer into the skin in small, circular motions. Avoid the
eyelids and go lightly around the lips and chin.
One
of the biggest mistakes to avoid when applying bronzers is applying
too much of it all over without regard for the natural variations
in the color of the skin on different parts of the body.
To
achieve a more natural sun-kissed look, apply the bronzer where
the sun would naturally hit you: your cheekbones, nose, chin,
lightly on your forehead, and your collarbones. When rubbing on
a bronzer, go light if you have wrinkles. Self tanners accentuate
lines.
While
the cream or gel is still moist, spread it right up to the hairline
and below the jaw to get rid of lines of demarcation. Don’t forget
behind the ears and the area above the neck if you plan to wear
your hair up.
Massage your bronzer into the larger areas like legs and torso
and use the small amount left in your palms to do the joints like
ankles, elbows and knees. Don’t forget between your toes.
